Dear Friends, Family, Fans, and Mom & Dad;
On February 1, 2006, I gathered up all of my paper samples, sharpies, and slightly defunct laptop, and decided it was time to make my own mark on the Richmond design world. Back then I had dreams of someday running a shop that included more than just me and my cat, but when I named the company I wanted it to reflect my current situation. I was one person with the know-how of an entire studio. I was studioSavvy.
Fast forward three and a half years and things had changed. I no longer had clients that only needed me for a project or two. I had companies relying on me to lead them through an entire year’s worth of marketing efforts at a time. I needed help—I needed my old pal, Hunter.
Before long, he and I saw that we could get even more accomplished with extra help. We hired a phenomenal intern, we tested the waters with a close-but-no-cigar contractor. We met Taylor, and everything clicked. We were a well-oiled machine that could handle just about everything. Well, almost everything.
We realized that for the past two years we had been solely relying on a wonderful copywriting team to help us create content. The more often we worked with them, the more integral we saw them to our company, our clients, our enthusiasm. So one night, after completing yet another amazing project, I said to Hunter: “You know what would be super awesome? If Kate and Susan just worked here all the time.” And Hunter’s response was this: “let’s do it!”
So today I am writing the final chapter on the company that started simply with one studioSavvy individual, and I’m introducing you to a new era. From this day forward we are a partnership of four people (and one really awesome designer) that will from here on be known as BAYONET.
This isn’t goodbye! It’s just a transition into something even more awesome. We all are ready for great things to come, and I’m hoping you’ll continue to be a part of this next venture.
