Taylor’s Finish Line Festival Recap
Update:
Taylor’s Finish Line Festival raised over $600,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Levine Children’s Hospital. More than 5,000 guests attended the event, 250 of whom were children undergoing treatment. Congratulations to all involved with the event—the impact will go far beyond the money raised. For the last several months, Carrie and I have been working with the Gibbs family to develop the graphic identity for Taylor’s Finish Line Festival—a celebration of Taylor Gibbs’ triumph over acute lymphoblastic leukemia as well as a huge fundraiser for two of the organizations that played a crucial role in Taylor’s treatment and recovery: Make-a-Wish Foundation and Levine Children’s Hospital.
The event was held this Sunday in Charlotte and was enormous success. A huge congratulations goes out to everyone involved.
Carrie and I went down to Charlotte for the weekend and had an absolute blast. We arrived on Saturday afternoon in time for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race (it was the first race for both of us) and stayed for the festival on Sunday. There were too many wonderful moments mention them all in one post, so we’ve narrowed them down to our Top 10.
And here they are, in no particular order, except for #1, which was the clear-cut highlight of the weekend for both Carrie and me.
10. A tour of Pit Road and the Garage
9. The Finish Line Festival NASCAR
8. Lots and lots of cake
7. M&M tires
6. Watching our first NASCAR race
5. Taylor with our Richmond Show Award
4. Taylor’s custom fire suit
3. Camels and Kangaroos
2. Meeting drivers for Joe Gibbs Racing and Mr. Joe Gibbs himself
And our favorite moment of the weekend—an emotional moment that we’ll never forget…
1. Taylor giving the invocation in front of 140,000 silent fans before the All-Star Race (this will give you goosebumps)
The entire weekend was very special and we’re so proud to have been a part of the team. One last giant ‘thank you’ and ‘congratulations’ to Taylor, Melissa, J.D., the entire Gibbs family and everyone who worked so hard to pull the event off. You’re free to take a nap now…you’ve earned it!

Drivers, start your engines
This weekend is going to be special. In January, 2007, Taylor Gibbs, grandson of Joe Gibbs, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He was 2 years old. But the Gibbs family was blessed with a fighter, and after enduring over three long years of ongoing pills, shots and spinal taps, Taylor is finally finished with treatment.
Last October, we were given the wonderful opportunity of working with the Gibbs family to help Taylor celebrate. And celebrate we will.
On Sunday, May 23, Taylor’s Finish Line Festival will be held at the ZMAX Drag Strip at Charlotte Motor Speedway. All proceeds generated will be donated to two wonderful organizations who were instrumental in helping Taylor during his battle with cancer: Levine Children’s Hospital and Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Over the last seven months we have been hard at work, partnering with Melissa and J.D. Gibbs to create the graphic identity for Taylor’s Finish Line Festival, encompassing a festival logo system, color palette and typefaces. As well, we designed a stationery system including letterhead and envelopes, a promotional brochure, and signage for the event.
We are extremely proud to have been part of the Finish Line Festival team and are beyond excited watch it all come together this weekend. If you can’t make it to the event, don’t worry—we’ll take cameras and document it thouroughly. Keep your eyes open for a post-festival write-up next week.
If you’re in the Charlotte area, please consider stopping by on Sunday. You’ll be supporting two great organizations, and you’re guaranteed a great time!

The Gibbs family is getting festive!
Over the weekend the Richmond Times Dispatch published a nice article on the Gibbs family and their youngest son’s battle with cancer. We’ve been lucky enough to work with this family over the past several months as we donated our time to create the logo, brochure and overall look and feel for the upcoming Taylor’s Finish Line Festival. This festival will be held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway the weekend of May 22, where the Gibbs hope to raise $600,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Levine Children’s Hospital.
Check out the article here, and even better, why not join us at the Festival in a few weeks!
